get the pneumatic shutter professionally serviced

or, get the 101mm lens / shutter assembly off of a Kodak 620 and try that.

Maybe I'll just do both! Oh, and I'm seriously tempted to try coating my own plates for use in the camera - has anyone else tried coating their own glass plates?

Creative Image Maker magazine is dedicated to traditional film photography and related photographic processes. CIM is comprised of photographers who regularly submit material for publishing in the magazine. Using only film related methods of capture and reproduction, with the obvious exception of posting that material in a digital environment, CIM's members will produce straightforward photography.
Beauty Lightomatic II by David Vickers

This camera came to me thanks to my wife - she saw it on Freecycle (a forum where people give things away they no longer want or need, to be used by someone else). We went over to Guildford (about 10 miles away from me) to pick it up. Total cost £nil. Now that's my kind of camera; but I'd never heard of Beauty cameras and I don't think they're exactly a well-known make, so this is my take on these 'unknown' cameras.

This camera dates from the ...

Here's a few shots of my Leica II (Model D), that I bought late in 2007. I'd wanted a Leica for many, many years and I finally got one.

But it was just the body, no lens; for the lens I had to raid my FED-2 camera and Jupiter-26 50mm lens - at least until Feb '08 when I managed to get the funds together for a Red Scale Elmar 5cm f3.5. Since that time, I've loved using the camera and I'd built up an expectation of what it would be like to use a Leica. I wasn't disappointed.

In the very beginnings we had a photographic contest titled 'Image within the Image' that was won by Ole Tjugen. We are going to continue this, hopefully with greater frequency and more results. CIM or a partner will have a prize for all contests. Nothing much, I beleive Ole won four rolls of film. Just something to sweeten the pot a little. Bragging rights mostly but it will be fun.

Hi, I'm Chris. I've been shooting film seriously for about ten years now. Been shooting on and off for over twenty. I've rolled through a slew of cameras. Minolta XG-M, Minolta sr-T101, Minolta XD-11, Mamiya M645j, Wirgin 6x6 folder (now a pinhole - modified), 35mm matchbox pinhole cameras (homemade), Zeiss Ikon Contina 35mm RF, Aletta 4x5 view camera (homemade and needs some more work) and finally and presently a Nikon N65 AF 35mm SLR.

I've always shot film. 35mm Fujicolor 400 then ...

I've just recently acquired a Nikonos II camera to use when kayaking, and on my trips to France (I spend a lot of the time there in and around the River Ardeche). The seller assured me it had been serviced, and although I've no reason to suspect anything otherwise, it surely could not have it's internal O-rings changed.

The only place I know that can do this is Southern Nikonos over in the US, and they didn't recognise the serial number as one they had serviced.

It's in great condition ...

We've had a set of spotlights sitting around here for ages - taken down from a recent DIY project, we tried to sell them, then give them away, and then when that failed they sat on the kitchen countertop for ages (waiting to be thrown away).

Eventually, I thought I could alter them and use them for photographic purposes, 30 minutes later, a drill bit and a few bolts and it was ready. Two of them in fact - here's an image of my daughter using them. Main light above camera, lighting a silver ...
